Team Spotlight: Cristian Sánchez, Lead Developer

By Alex Schwall, Marketing Manager

North Street is thrilled to introduce you to our Lead Developer, Cristian Sánchez!

An experienced developer with a knack for leadership, Cristian has been an immediate asset to the organization and we are excited for you to get to know him.

Read on to learn more about Cristian and his first few months at North Street Creative.

How did you get started in the industry?

I grew up in a small city of 100k people, just a few streets from the sea, and surrounded by friends I call brothers.

I don’t like traditional education; I found a way to learn technology faster and on topics that interested me. I learned to be a web developer at school when I was 15. I spent hours in the computer lab after school because I didn’t have internet at home. Though I went to university and studied Systems Engineering, I have always preferred learning on digital platforms, so I can put together a custom curriculum and go at my own pace.

What were you doing before North Street?

I worked for a company in Costa Rica as a Technology Lead and ran my own projects, leading a multidisciplinary team of developers from the USA to Brazil. As Technology Lead, I acted as a bridge between the client’s requirements and the development team – supporting each stage of the web development process and providing the team with what was necessary to meet the expected due date and quality level.

I am also very active in the WordPress community in LatAm.

What do you bring to the company?

Because of my strengths and experience, I bring a new perspective to North Street. This includes implementing new methods and processes, thus creating a distributed team capable of delivering high-quality projects on time. A well-structured development team can become a company’s best asset, both for our clients and our internal teams.

Which NS core value do you most identify with and why?

I most identify with Self-Awareness. When you are in a leadership position, it is essential to understand your capabilities and when you can or cannot do something. You don’t always have to know everything; the team can support each other and share knowledge whenever necessary.

How would you describe your team?

“Multicultural.” The team is comprised of people from different countries – Ecuador, England, Guatemala, Madagascar, USA… This teaches us to communicate better and provide clear ideas and requirements whenever needed. Working in different time zones can be challenging, but with commitment, dedication, and (above all) supporting each other, the team is available to achieve the impossible.

What have you liked about working at NS so far?

I really like how all the teams are committed and supported to achieve the best on each project, always supporting each part of the different processes. Being at North Street has been a wonderful personal and professional experience since day one.

What’s a fun fact about you?

When I was a little boy, I always used to climb trees. I wasn’t afraid.

But…when it was time to come down, everything got a little more complicated, and my older sister always had to rescue me.
